SANDI AND ED COHEN
Everyone has a story…and theirs begins when they met, Ed was 17 and Sandi was 15. They dated on and off for five years and eventually married in September of 1961. After graduating from Temple University Sandi taught second grade as the only white woman teacher in an all black school in North Philadelphia.
Ed purchased his first pharmacy in1967 and by 1975 had five pharmacies in the Philadelphia area. In 1978 Sandi started a medical supply and equipment business in the front of one of the pharmacies, which she built to a multi million-dollar business in three years. They were dreaming big and our dreams became reality.
Did you ever dream of what tomorrow will bring? Well they dreamed and they dreamed big dreams.
They wanted it all; the lifestyle as well as the lucrative income.
They thought they were set for life. A wonderful family, thriving business’s, the 10,000 square foot home, English Houseman, cook from Grand Cayman, Rolls Royce, stretch limo, and it goes on.
But one thing you learn as you get older, life can be uncertain and unpredictable.
Their success came from a lot of hard work, typical brick and mortar with all the burden then comes with it: half a million dollars in inventory, million dollars in receivables, 36 employees, accounts payable and the list goes on….
But things changed in healthcare, as they are still changing today. They decided to sell the businesses in 1986 to a group of private investors, who defaulted on their payments and so began an 8-year nightmare in the court system in Philadelphia.
They were frustrated, disgusted, and financially devastated after losing everything fighting their case in court. They lost the house, the cars and all that went with it. It was time for a change, so they moved to Arizona to get away from the cold northeastern winters and to begin again!
Ed was hired as a pharmacist with a supermarket chain. Sandi was introduced to a woman in Phoenix and they had a long lunch meeting at which the woman brought up the subject of Network Marketing. Sandi was negative at first, because of a really, really negative previous experience where she convinced Ed to purchase $8,000 worth of water filters that they had to donate to Goodwill because they could not sell them. But as the conversation went on, Sandi realized there were not many options and understood if she was willing to be coachable and help others, there was hope to getting their life back from the day-to-day struggles.
So began their journey in Network Marketing.
Ten companies and four years later, they finally found what they thought was their long-term home in MLM. They worked that company for seven years never getting their check to over $13,000.00 per month. That would have been okay for most, but their debt structure required much more than that. As a result of the litigation, even though they won in court 8 years later, they were left with debts of over $400,000.00. The only winners were all the attorneys!!
Unfortunately, the MLM Company they had worked so hard with changed their compensation plan about three times in that seven-year period and each time they lost about one third of our organization.
In 2002 they received a call from a stranger, asking them to fly to Utah to look at a new company that was launching. Sandi agreed, just to find out what was happening in the industry because there had been no great company or compelling story launched in a long time. This was going to be their ELEVENTH and final build. By this time, after so many experiences, they knew what to look for. She liked what she saw or as she said, she loved what she saw.
They replaced a seven-year income with their previous company and reached the highest position in their new company in four months. They have maintained the highest position in the new company since.
